We’re proud with Khmer Reader, and I want to tell everyone about the application. The Khmer Reader is professional for blind person. They can use it to type Khmer Language with Khmer Unicode and in the same time, they can also listens the sound of consonant, vowel, independent vowel, Diacritic, sign … etc. that they’re typing.
1. History
1.1 Krousar Thmey
Krusar Thmey is an organization that got a professional training for helping the person can’t speak (mute), hear or listen (deaf), see (blind) … etc.

1.2 Leepiooo & My colleague
I’m Leepiooo (Lee Pi Yooo); My Teacher, PhD. CHHIT Vannarith and other colleagues is the member of the project.
In the project, everyone has got a role which responsible as:
- PhD. CHHIT Vannarith is a project manager; he’s responsible for the whole project and the database of Khmer words.
- I, Leepiooo am a software team leader that got a role to develop the Khmer Reader.
- Other colleagues is member the project help me and the manager to complete the plan.
1.3 The name “Khmer Reader”
Before, the name of the program is Khmer Text To Speech (kHTTS), after the time that we’ve got a talk with Krousar Thmey, the name of the program has changed to Khmer Reader.
1.4 Khmer Reader Owner
Khmer Reader Version 1.0.0 is property of Krousar Thmey via donation of British Embassy.
I, Leepiooo and My teacher, PhD. CHHIT Vannarith, is the power of the Khmer Reader. We give the software to Krousar Thmey on 27-Feb-2007 (first time, My Teacher go to the place of the organization) and 02-April-2007 (Second time, I go to the place and give it to the person that are responsible for this program).

2. Technical
The three months for the project that is sort time but we try the best to complete the plan on the time.
Before I start to talk about Khmer Reader, I want you think how to create the program that can talk or read Khmer words what we typed?
2.1 How to Create Khmer Reader?
The answer of this question is the base how to do it. In that time, we just see some forums talks a little bit about Khmer Spelling Checker.
But the checker is still in the test version!
So now, maybe it’s time that I will show everyone about myself:
I, Leepiooo is former student of Royal Academy of Cambodia, in field Computer Science, I get master of computer science in Feb 22, 2006.
My thesis topic is Short Message Service with Khmer Orthographic Syllables and my instructor is PhD. CHHIT Vannarith.
In the topic, I’ve presented how to
- Send and receive Khmer Unicode Message from phone with computer even if it can’t display Khmer Unicode on screen.
- Create method how to type Khmer word in digital device or mobile phone with Khmer Syllable
- Check Khmer spelling
- Convert from Limon to Unicode and Unicode to Limon
- Create List of Khmer Orthographic Syllable (some person call Cluster)
From these experiences, I can complete successfully the project Khmer Reader on time.
2.2 Program Khmer Reader
The figure will show everyone the picture of the program, How to Register and How to Use with easy steps.
At the beginning, we are proud to present you how to set up Khmer Reader. If you’ve got ready with Khmer Reader, Just click on Khmer Reader.msi , if not plz contact Krousar Thmey: http://www.krousar-thmey.org .

2.3 How to Register Khmer Reader?
The program needs to register, cos of, maybe, they want to make sure about scope of requirement.
But before you can see Register Screen (Figure 05), you will need the user information configuration files and How to get these one, you must sent Krousar Thmey your personal or business organization information.
So after the time, you will get the user information configuration files:
· System.cnf
· Config.cnf

2.4 How to Install Khmer Reader?
After you get the user information configuration files, now you start to install the program.
Copy the user information configuration files to Folder which you set up, Click on Khmer Reader.exe, you will see Register Screen as Figure 05.
Enter your Reg. key, if you got, to that box; if your Reg. Key is valid, the Reg. Screen will disappear.
Finally, just click Khmer Reader.exe again; you will see the screen as Figure 01.
2.5 How to Use Khmer Reader?
Click on The program menu, if you want see screen listed here, then the user and registration information as your desire.
In this program has got Khmer-Spelling-Checker built-in, so when you type wrong, and you analyze! You will see screen look like Figure08.
In Tab result will show you the wrong word in red color, in the same time, program will read everything in the Tab result, if the word not list in the database, it will spell that word as consonant, vowel, number … etc.
Khmer Reader not only compatible with Limon or Khmer Unicode; but also Braille font.
Braille font is familiar with blind person, because it shows them the points that they can touch (after printing; in computer, they use Jaws Program to read it for them), so they can analyze it to compatible character.
In addition, this program can convert fonts as
- Limon to Unicode
- Braille to Unicode
- Unicode to Braille (Print, Braille Printer).
Further more, it can do Khmer Braille Wrapper when print to Braille Printer and can also bring the result to Ms Word.

2.6 Leepiooo Say!
I’m Leepiooo (Lee Pi ooo / Lee Pi Yooo), thanks for your support and I recommend, if you want use Khmer Reader.exe forever in one computer as possible, plz copy the contents of Folder that you set up or backup to safe place; next time, you just copy it to anywhere in the same computer, Still can use it !
